This family wanted all of their regularly used batteries at everyone’s fingertips. We used these simple bins from @thecontainerstore and put the most used batteries on a shelf in the mudroom foe everyone to access. At my house our kids are too small to get batteries for themselves so they are stored up night and out of reach. How do you organize and store batteries? Do you use rechargeable or regular? .

(Love you @simplyborganized :)...but I agree 💯 that staying organized and developing the habits to maintain your systems is the biggest challenge. This looks different for everyone. Some people naturally have the time and discipline to handle it on their own and some people have the money to hire people to do it for them. Some folks have their organizers come by once a quarter and some people work out a solid system with their family. It’s different for everyone and every way is great. The goal is to find a path to a home that feels peaceful and orderly given your life today. .

#organizedhome #organization #professionalorganizer #tidyingup #habits #erinbarbotandco This is our “take upstairs” basket...and it always looks this tidy and empty. And that is a big lie. Upstairs/downstairs baskets are great, but they do have to be managed like anything else. Once the basket is full, take it to its designated floor, empty it, and put it back in its spot. Try and resist just dropping off the whole basket to do “later.” I also believe in investing in a basket you like to look at, that’s easy to carry, and is medium in size. You want it to hold enough to give you some relief from constant tidying, but not so big that it’s a dumping ground that takes forever to clean out 🧺 .

#organization #organizedhome #professionalorganizer #erinbarbotandco #tidyingup #basket #containerstore #upstairsbasket I’m not sure if y’all have heard...but there’s a new show on @netflix about organizing 😉. Yes, I have seen it! Yes, I do love it! I have been a @mariekondo fan for many years. I do use a lot of her methods, but not all of them. I love how she folds, I love her philosophy on focusing on what you want to keep vs what you want to get rid of, and I love her deep passion for a big mess:). However, I will likely have a ponytail in and tennis shoes on when I show up and not look adorable like she does; my approach requires me to be a little more comfortable getting down and dirty. I’m a also a big believer in pretty baskets and bins, when budget allows. I’m thrilled her show has brought attention to our industry and that so many are feeling inspired to get organized! .
